Fiancé and I went to a craft tool shop this weekend and found our pockets much lighter. [laughs nervously in Hobby Costs] He's into knife sharpening, and since my wood whittling tools also need to be sharpened, we figured it would be useful to buy a strop and the relevant compounds to keep our respective blades honed.
My first whittling project is to make a fox. Being a novice, my grip is probably wrong, and my blade is definitely screaming at me to do better, but I'm following the Bob Ross of wood carving, so I think I'll be alright. I'm trusting the process (however glacial it is).

I watched PearFleur's wood carving video, and I am in love! I want to carve wood, too. The goal is to create wood-printed Christmas cards for the family. Since I have a theme every year (puns, abstract watercolour musings, botanical art), I figured this would be a perfect addition to my skill set.
